Who We Are
Back in 1992, when Christina and I were dating, I remember eating a burrito in San Luis Obispo and really enjoying it. It was huge, tasty and different. I liked it, but really thought having white rice in it was a bit odd. I remember joking with Christina about us taking this concept back to New Mexico and starting a restaurant, but using New Mexican ingredients. Our plans took us elsewhere (halfway around the world to Kazakhstan, in fact) and now, 17 years later, we are going to fulfill that initial whimsical dream.
As native New Mexicans we share a nostalgia with other native New Mexicans for good New Mexican food which is hard to find outside the state - it is there, but few and far between. So we are combining the model of that little burrito shop with our addiction to green chile.
We think we have something that you and your friends will enjoy. New Mexican food is fantastic, and Ristras will make it for you quickly in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Besides our warm place, great service and good food, you will soon find out that we are a community based business. We aim to be actively involved in local schools, charities and churches. Having worked in the non-profit sector for over 18 years we know how tough it is meeting your budget needs. How many times did I wish businesses would share this burden with me just a little more. Well, we want to step into that gap as much as we possibly can. Please stay connected with us and hear about the many different ways you too can join us in giving back to this wonderful community.
All for now, but there will be many pages and pictures to add in the years to come. Again, thank you for hopping on to our web page! Please say hello to me when you visit Ristras.
